World War II veteran Charlie Mungin is turning 100 years old Tuesday. Over the weekend, family and friends threw him a surprise birth lunch at Golden Corral in Orange Park. Friends and family are collecting cards for him.

Dressed in their best patriotic partywear, dozens showed up to the VFW Post 5968 in Orange Park, not only to celebrate the Fourth of July, but to celebrate one special military veteran. Retired Navy Master Chief Fred Long who turned 100 on Thursday.

A WWII veteran entered the “Century Club” with his head in the clouds - figuratively speaking.

Today marks 80 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, which launched America into World War II.
