A Trump appointee has been picked as the acting head of the U.S. Census Bureau.

The group run by Elon Musk that aims to cut federal spending in the second Trump administration is targeting U_S_ Census Bureau surveys it claims are “wasteful."

The 2020 census is expected to cost $14.2 billion, well below a previous estimate of $15.6 billion.
