Unlike Florida’s executive order, the federal directive does not single out K-12 educators as the only group eligible to get the vaccine. Tara Jackson, a 50-year-old literacy specialist for the school district, said her colleagues were excited to learn there was one location where all school personnel could go to be vaccinated. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Additional help is on the way to assist with COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Sixty additional airmen from Florida’s Air National Guard were activated for duty Monday. Since March, more than 2,300 Florida National Guard members have helped in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Twenty National Guard members have been stationed at the Regency Square Mall testing site since doses of the vaccine started being administered there. According to the 125th Fighter Wing, of the 60 airmen from the 125th Fighter Wing activated Monday, 40 will go out into communities and help with getting people signed up for vaccine appointments while the other 20 will replace the guardsmen currently at the Regency Square Mall.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla- State-run coronavirus testing sites are expanding locations to include priority lanes for people showing symptoms of COVID-19 and elderly people and kids. The testing site at Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville is one of the several sites subject to the changes. For this, all state-run sites are now to include antibody testing. Several coronavirus testing sites were closed Monday as Tropical Storm Isaias passed through Northeast Florida. According to the Florida Association of Public Information Officers, 837 active swab tests and 62 antibody tests were conducted at the Regency testing site on Tuesday.

The idea was put out on Facebook, and people from all over Northeast Florida made it happen, and then some. Dozens of Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department trucks started off the parade, then deputies from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office followed as a JSO helicopter circled overhead. “It was really great.”Brown had mentioned to a few people he’d like a neighborhood parade. Brown is a 1985 graduate of Sandalwood High School, and his alumni Facebook group helped to start off the plans.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Regency Square Mall is one of four sites around the state set to open a drive-thru self-swab testing site for symptomatic individuals on Friday. Observed self-swab tests are available for those 5 years old and up who are showing symptoms. The Regency site can handle up to 2,200 self-swab tests per day. At the sites, symptomatic individuals will be directed to a separate lane for testing and will be provided an observed, self-swab test under the supervision of a health care professional. In addition to Regency, self-swab sites are also launching at the Orange County Convention Center, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami-Dade County and War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man died after a single-vehicle crash Friday night near the Regency area, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Police said a truck struck a metal JEA pole and a man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man, who was described as being about 50 years old, died at the hospital, police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
