Samar opened the door leading to the garage and saw her husband fiercely struggling with a man, who stabbed him. During her fight with the woman, Samar bit the woman’s arm until she bled. The woman threatened that they would shoot Saad if Samar didn’t give them all of the money they had. As she was held at knifepoint, Samar told the woman where to find the money -- about $30,000 -- in the kitchen cabinets. At the time of the murder, Baer had been an intelligence division detective and police said Baer knew Saad through work.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After an investigation spanning more than two decades, Jacksonville police have announced the arrest of a retired Jacksonville detective and his then-wife in the murder of a business owner. Based on those profiles, Ivey said, William Robert Baer Jr., 64, who is a retired JSO officer, was arrested in Jacksonville on Wednesday. Ivey said Melissa Schafer, 50, who was Baer’s then-wife, was arrested in Jefferson City, Missouri. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than two decades after a Jacksonville business owner was murdered in his own garage, police are turning to the public for help solving this cold case homicide. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released a composite sketch of the woman after the stabbing, but she still has not been identified. The man’s identity also remains a mystery even though police collected his fingerprints and DNA from the scene. Margo Rhatigan told News4Jax. "We don’t know if that’s going to be a suspect vehicle.
