JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed early Thursday morning in a crash on Merrill Road near Hartsfield Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. According to police the man was in a Nissan headed west on Merrill when the Nissan “made an abrupt left turn” in front of a Jeep that was headed east on Merrill. The man in the passenger side of the Nissan was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. A woman driving the Nissan was treated for minor injuries at the hospital, police said. Merrill Road was temporarily closed at Hartsfield and Dames Point Crossing.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed and another man was injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning on Stardust Court, just south of Merrill Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. Police were called around 1:15 a.m. to the scene at an apartment complex near the Lake Lucina neighborhood of Arlington, where officers found a man in his 20s dead from a gunshot wound. Another man, also in his 20s, was transported to a hospital, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Some people have been out here for 10 years, and it has never happened before,” said Cedric Sessions, the maintenance manager at the Stardust apartment complex. First responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department were called to the accident on Merrill Road and Hartsfield Road around 7 a.m. According to JFRD, kids were on board when the school bus collided with an SUV.
