Jacksonville’s Finance Committee is adding back some funding for the Meals on Wheels program. In its final budget hearing, the committee moved forward with $1.7 million for the program after pushback against proposed cuts to Mayor Donna Deegan’s initial budget request.

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, fresh food and cool air are coming from Houston community groups that have honed their disaster services in a city frequently battered by extreme weather.

Members of Jacksonville’s Jewish community fanned out around Jacksonville to deliver Christmas meals to seniors served by the Meals on Wheels program, operated by Aging True.

Several local groups teamed up Friday for their annual holiday meal delivery.

Hundreds of families throughout the community now have one more reason to give thanks.
