In Duval County, members of the Hispanic community say they saw more campaigns targeting their votes this year. “Most politicians, the wise politicians, at some point or another have addressed the Hispanic community,” said Hispanic voter Carlos Bouvier. Out of 37,496 Hispanics registered to vote in Duval County, 9,289 are Republicans, 14,597 are Democrats and 13,004 have no party affiliation. “I come from an island where we have a big government with high taxes," said Hispanic voter Emilio Ruiz. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The NAACP is working to ensure Georgia voters know that another important election is coming up in January -- the runoff races for two Senate seats. The 2020 presidential election broke records for voter turnout, including the number of minorities that cast a ballot. The NAACP said it spent millions of dollars, especially in swing states, to encourage voters to get to the polls. “This was the most strategic and largest initiative for voters,” said NAACP President Derrick Johnson. $15 million dollars was spent on the initiative, which included the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Texas and Alabama.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A new federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study shows that Hispanic, Black and American Indian/Alaskan Native children accounted for 78% of COVID-19 pediatric deaths. The report is based on information that 47 health jurisdictions, including the Florida Department of Health, submitted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The analysis reviewed 121 deaths, with 12% of the cases meeting the definition of MIS-C, or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children. Ten percent of the pediatric deaths were in infants under age 1. The study also showed that 39 deaths occurred outside of hospital inpatient settings, occurring at home or in hospital emergency departments.
