Summer starts Friday

Showers and storms fade into the night, heat returns tomorrow

The official start of summer is a couple of weeks away, but we already feeling the full effects.  Scattered showers and storms will develop mainly after 1 p.m. and linger through sunset.  The heat and humidity will combine for “Feels Like” temperatures near the low 100s.

Dry air moves in suppressing afternoon storms for the start of the week. Summer showers and storms return Tuesday and will follow the sea breeze during the afternoon, evening. Afternoon highs in the lower 90s along our sandy shores, mid 90s inland. Mostly clear skies will start the day with wake up temperatures in the 70s inland and along our beaches. Looking ahead: A hot work week with showers and storms increasing Tuesday, Wednesday.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will continue through the week. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s to low 90s inland, mid to upper 80s along our beaches. Tuesday: Cloudy with scattered showers, storms developing during the afternoon, early evening, 70-90 percent with better chances across southeast Georgia.
