Ruby George, 81, former executive vice president of Duval Teachers United, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy and fraud charges related to a scheme that stole more than $1.2 million from the union over nearly a decade.

The former executive vice president of Duval Teachers United, a union for Duval County education employees, is expected to plead guilty to conspiring to steal more than $1.2 million over nearly 10 years.

The former president and executive vice president of the Duval Teachers Union, Teresa Brady and Ruby George, have been indicted for allegedly conspiring to steal more than $1.2 million each.

Over 700 teacher and staff positions could be eliminated next school year, the school district announced last week.

Terrie Brady has served as the president of the teacher union that represents teachers and staff in Duval County Public Schools for over 20 years.
