WASHINGTON A group of 15 Republican state attorneys general filed an amicus brief Monday supporting the Justice Departments motion to drop its case against former Trump administration national security adviser Michael Flynn. The attorneys general also argue that Sullivan should drop the case without commentary because such punditry disrobes the judiciary of its cloak of impartiality, according to the filing. Sullivan has signaled resistance to swiftly accepting the Justice Departments motion and appointed a retired jurist last week to act as a friend of the court and evaluate whether Flynn should be held in criminal contempt. The former judge, John Gleeson, has asked to file his first brief in June. There was no reason to issue these orders because this Court has no say in the federal governments decision not to prosecute, the state attorneys general argue.

Copyright 2019 CNN(CNN) - Authorities have seized 20 kilograms of suspected fentanyl in a huge drug bust in Dayton, Ohio. That is enough of the synthetic opioid "to kill the entire population of Ohio, many times over," said Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Vance Callender. "The quantity of fentanyl in this case amounts to chemical warfare and a weapon of mass destruction," Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said in a statement. Agents also seized 1,500 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 500 grams of suspected heroin, three firearms and over $30,000 during last week's operation. They are facing charges of possession with intent to distribute 400 or more grams of fentanyl and felon in possession of a firearm.

CNN(CNN) - A federal judge has temporarily blocked Ohio's "heartbeat" bill banning abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy from going into effect. Judge Michael Barrett on Wednesday barred Senate Bill 23 while he considers the lawsuit challenging the measure filed by Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union in May. The ACLU and Planned Parenthood sued Alabama in May and Arkansas and Georgia last week, while the American Medical Association sued North Dakota on Tuesday. Should the Ohio law have gone into force, "one could characterize the obstacle Ohio women will face as not merely 'substantial,' but, rather, 'insurmountable,'" Barrett wrote. "The Court concludes, based on current United States Supreme Court precedent, that Plaintiffs are certain to succeed on the merits of their claim that S.B.
