The advocacy group Public School Defenders: Duval County (PSD) is pushing back on a statewide contract from the Florida Department of Education that would spend millions on creating a system to review educational materials.

After years of ongoing debate in Clay County regarding which books should be permitted in school libraries, the School Board has finally established a library policy.

Clay County parents came together on Tuesday at a school board forum to give feedback on the school library book policy.

Parents raised concerns in the Duval County School Board meeting on Monday over books that some feel are too explicit for children to read. The group Public School Defenders (PSD) also hosted a rally before the meeting to advocate against book bans.
