Whiskers & Waves free adoption event in Jacksonville Beach
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. โ The City of Jacksonvilleโs Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) is holding its second annual โWhiskers and Wavesโ adoption event on March 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Latham Plaza in Jacksonville Beach. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption free-of-charge thanks to a sponsorship from the Petco Foundation. โWe are excited to find forever homes for pets at this fun event at the beach,โ ACPS Division Chief Jennifer Walter said. โThis is a great opportunity to meet your new best friend since a variety of pet adoption agencies will be showcasing adoptable pets. Thanks to the Petco Foundation, adoptions are free, so this is an ideal time to find that perfect furry companion,โ said Walter.
Father, daughter meet for the first time after 50 years
HOUSTON โ It was an emotional reunion for one Tomball, Texas father and his daughter, who were separated at her birth and then came together again after 50 years. Winskiโs daughter, Kerri Beggs, said at the age of 19, she began a quest to find her biological father. Beggs, who now lives in Tucson, Arizona, took a plane to Hobby Airport on Friday, a flight that was delayed. For the first time after a lifetime of missing each other, the father and daughter embraced each other. For the last four months, Iโve been looking forward to this day.โAdded Winski, โSheโs my little girl.
Jacksonville Humane Society offering free adoptions this weekend
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS), in collaboration with Subaru of Jacksonville and the ASPCA, will be hosting a free adoption event in honor of the Subaru Loves Pets grant program on Oct. 24 and 25. The public is invited to visit JHS between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on either day and bring home their newest family member. The goal of this 2-day event is to bring pets and people together with new homes for at least 50 shelter animals. Masks and social distancing are required at JHS.
