The DONNA Mother’s Day 5K race took place through the streets of Riverside to fundraise for breast cancer research.

The 16th annual March to Get Screened 5K was held in St. Johns County to spread the message of getting checked for colon cancer on Sunday.

Around 14,000 runners are getting ready to participate in the Gate River Run this Saturday, and there are some things you need to know ahead of the race – especially if you’ll be around the downtown area.

Hundreds of runners hit Jacksonville Beach to honor the heroes of 9/11. Travis Manion Foundation hosted the annual run. It was one of 14 runs on Saturday happening around the country.

The event announced that all slots for the day — the 15K, 5K, mile challenge, the Junior River Run and the diaper dashes — have been filled for the 47th running of the iconic road race in Jacksonville.

The Kilwins Jacksonville Ice Cream Run benefits the local programs and services for children age birth to 7. The Kilwins run was started ten years ago by Dana and Vance Stallings to honor their daughter, Haley, who attended Clarke. All of the money raised for the 5K/1 mile walk-run benefits the local campus, and is the school’s biggest annual fundraising event. Also known as the Coolest Family-Friendly Event in North Florida because all participants are rewarded with all-you-can-eat ice cream at the finish!

Eden Kendall from River City Live was live at The Donna Expo, where participants in the DONNA Marathon Weekend are picking up race packets. The Expo is populated by vendors of lifestyle and wellness brands.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The sixth annual Tony’s Turkey Trot is one holiday transition that was not derailed by the coronavirus pandemic. The Thanksgiving Day 5K is about more than just getting ahead of the holiday calories. It’s a memorial run for Tony Meduri, who died years after a traumatic brain injury, or TBI. Meduri’s daughter created the Tony Meduri TBI Fund that holds TBI awareness events year-round, including Tony’s Turkey Trot. All post-race events and the fun run were canceled, and the usual on-site awards were prepared to be mailed to winners and participants instead.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Gate River Run will limit its field to 70% capacity and put numerous other safeguards in place for its 2021 event due to the coronavirus pandemic. The biggest change is capping race entries at 8,000 for the marquee 15K event. The Gate River Run has been televised live on WJXT for years. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dreams Come True is still running its annual 5K fundraiser -- but the nonprofit has made some changes in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “This is a flexible, safe, option during these times, while still raising money for the dreams of local children,” Dreams Come True said. Once you register, you will receive a DCT5K mask, and Dreams Come True will donate a mask to one of its health care partners in your honor. Participants will have the chance to earn a 2020 DCT5K shirt by raising $150 or more through their fundraising page. But Dreams Come True highly encourages everyone to post/share pictures and more on social media during the official race period to help spread the word.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The John J. Rhoden Foundation will host a 5K this weekend to raise awareness about domestic violence against men. "Men don't want to talk about it, men just deal with it and we didn't know the severity until he actually came to us with it," explained Amy Rhoden. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in every 4 men are abused by their intimate partner. The 5K will raise money for the foundation to provide shelter, food, legal assistance and professional counseling to men who need help. A Minnesota mom was worried his son wouldnt finish the 5K race, but the 9-year-old boy surprised everyone and instead came in first place in the 10K race. It has never been on our radar, his mom Heather Boedigheimer-Lovell told InsideEdition.com. The 10K race happened simultaneously, and runners for both groups started together. He came in first place, completing the 10K in about 48 minutes, with the next fastest runner coming in a full minute behind. I have never seen him so red after a race, his mom said.

Each year, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, so if youre not marking the occasion already, maybe its time to start.
