JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was Day 6, and it was the most competitive practice so far, by far. Full pads for the team and the guys were flying around. Things did get a little chippy, nothing major, but definitely some talking going on.
Competition was high, but it wasn’t the cleanest day in terms of execution for the offense. Liam Coen was not too happy with a few plays where there looked to be confusion as they lined up, even having them re-huddle once.

Every practice matters, and each rep is important but it is still practice. A guy like Joshua Cephus knows that all too well.
“I had a good camp last year as well, you know what I’m saying. Then, preseason came and it didn’t translate,” he said.
Cephus has been has been a guy who has been consistently making plays throughout camp so far but his focus is clear.

“I’m just trying to make sure I’m stacking days and make sure it transfers to preseason and then onto the regular season when I’m on a roster,” Cephus said.
It’s amazing the difference a year can make.
“I feel like I was, kind of, walking on eggshells,” he said.
Now, a year later, he is much more comfortable and is looking more and more like a guy who is going to be on the Jags 53-man roster when it is all said and done.

Notebook
- Hunter Long has an Ankle injury and is day-to-day
- Patrick Mekari, Buster Brown and Johnny Mundt were all not on the field for practice.
- Bhayshul Tuten dressed today but worked off to the side and did not take any handoffs. He is dealing with a hamstring injury.
- Josh Hines-Allen has looked like a one-man wrecking crew. Hines-Allen has looked unblockable at times, getting his way into the backfield and winning 1-on-1s with ease.
- During 1 on 1’s, DaVon Hamilton put a move on Robert Hainsey for a strong, quick win. Hamilton has had a strong camp if he can get back to his level of play where he was a few years ago, before his back injury, the Jags d d-line could be a scary group.
- Ezra Cleveland with a solid day. During 1 on 1s he put Lacy on the ground and was able to stop Hamilton in his track. Cleveland trying to hold on to his starting spot at left guard and he has looked good.
- Jarrian Jones came up with a one-handed interception during 1 on 1 drills. Jones has slid into the starting lineup the last week, and somehow I don’t see him moving out of the spot unless it’s for Travis Hunter.
- I keep saying I think Eli Pancol will find a way into the WR 6 spot and every so often, he flashes. He had a big win against Aydan White during 1 on 1’s.
