JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We have reached the dog days of camp. OK, maybe not the dog days, but it was hot and the offense was rough. So that means the defense had a good day. But the offense, sheesh. Worst day of camp so far.

QB tracker
Trevor Lawrence: 12-23 5 TDs and 1 INT
Nick Mullens: 10-20, 2 TDs, fumble
John Wolford: 6-8, 2 TDs
Seth Henigan: 0-2
The touchdown numbers from Lawrence skew the day a bit since most of the day was spent doing red zone work. Also worth noting that the interception was tipped at the line of scrimmage.
Days like this will happen. Defenses are normally ahead of the offense early in camp, but that didn’t stop the frustration from the offensive guys. Multiple players slammed their helmets and were visibly not pleased with their day.
While it was a rough day, there is still progress. Travis Etienne said that he feels like the offense has made a ton of growth since the offseason. He mentioned the attention to detail from the coaching staff multiple times. Two things Travis said stood out to me:
I asked him if this is the most time he has spent in an offense outside of the backfield, and he said: “Most definitely.”

Etienne continued to say, “It gives me a chance to get the ball in space.”
That is the key to this offense where people keep asking who RB1 is, but it is tough to explain because the roles are different.
Lawrence has said that this offense gives him the answer to everything to put the offense in a good position. Etienne echoed that saying, “The defense doesn’t know what we’re doing. We got three different plays out of the same formation.”
Etienne went on to explain how different it is compared to 2024, “where last year they could just guess what we were doing. I feel like our splits and our alignments gave it up a lot, and I feel like this year is going to be very different.”

- Travis Hunter spent the day on defense.
- Parker Washington is having a fantastic camp. Washington caught a pair of touchdown passes on Friday. Washington likes to say “chop wood, carry water.” However you want to say it, Washington is stacking good days.
- Eli Pancol caught a pair of TDs. The rookie is going to try and squeeze his way onto the roster as WR No. 5 or 6. That battle is wide open, and Pancol is making some noise.
- A pair of diving PBUs for Jourdan Lewis. The vet has looked good. He continues to make plays. The DB group as a whole looks good.
- To me, Tyson Campbell was one of the biggest reasons for the offense’s rough day. They kept throwing at him and he kept responding with tight coverage. Campbell has looked like the guy.
- The battle at safety is on. Antonio Johnson spent the day paired with Eric Murray. They have rotated Johnson, Andrew Wingard, and Darnell Savage so far. Looks like it will be a battle to earn that spot next to Murray.
- Jack Kiser has got some wheels! The rookie linebacker tracked down Chandler Brayboy and punched the ball loose down the field. Real effort play from the rookie.
- Bhayshul Tuten has got the juice. He caught a short pass and made a move that left Aydan White in the dust. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see some of the Jags “braintrust” on the field watching, grinning ear to ear.
- Chad Muma with a club cast on his hand came up with the interception off Trevor Lawrence.
- The defensive line group had a nice day. Josh Hines-Allen, DaVon Hamilton, Emmanuel Ogbah and Dawuane Smoot all came up with sacks during practice.
