JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars continue to make a flurry of moves to reshape their roster, signing one player Wednesday and releasing a local fan favorite.
Jacksonville signed linebacker Dennis Gardeck and waived offensive lineman Cooper Hodges with a failed physical designation. Hodges, a Baker County High School graduate, was a good story for the Jaguars. He was a seventh-round pick in 2023 out of Appalachian State and was a favorite of the previous coaching regime. But he just couldn’t stay healthy. Hodges missed his entire rookie year after a preseason knee injury, and logged just 63 offensive snaps and one start last year while dealing with another season-ending injury.

Gardeck spent his entire career with the Cardinals after breaking in as an undrafted free agent in 2018. In 96 career games, he has 23 tackles for loss, 17 sacks and 156 tackles. He led Arizona in sacks in 2023 (six) and had a career-high seven sacks in 2020 on just 93 defensive snaps.
Jacksonville made a series of moves Tuesday as well.
The Jaguars signed Dawuane Smoot, bringing back the defensive end after a one-year stint with the Bills. The Jaguars also signed receiver Trenton Irwin and released receiver David White, a Westside High School graduate.
