JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a tough night for area high school softball teams in the state playoffs.
All four local teams stalled out in the regional finals, meaning that there will be no area teams in the state semifinals for the first time since 2003.

Matanzas ace Leah Stevens fired a no-hitter but host Niceville scratched out the lone run on an error to beat the Pirates 1-0 in the Region 1-5A final. Stevens whiffed nine but the Eagles pushed in their lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Paxon was on the wrong end of a perfect game, losing to ace Charley Butler and Wakulla 6-0 in the Region 1-3A final. Butler whiffed 11 and faced the minimum 21 batters in the win. Paxon’s season ended at 19-6.
In Region 1-2A, Baldwin got RBIs from Makaila Fry, Jazmine Ramose-Merced and Izabella Screws drove in runs for the Indians but they couldn’t overcome host North Bay Haven in a 6-3 loss.
In 1-1A, Mila Lackowski had three hits and Carless Conners drove in three runs, but host University Christian dropped its regional final 11-8 to North Florida Christian. NFC took a 9-1 lead after pushing seven runs across in the top of the third.
