JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars made a bold move in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, trading with the Cleveland Browns to move up from No. 5 to No. 2 and select Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
The move means the rest of the draft will look a little different for the Jaguars than it did when the clock first started Thursday night.

In the trade, the Jags also received a fourth-rounder and a sixth-rounder from the Browns, with both picks coming in this draft.
So for now, the Jaguars’ remaining picks are:
- No. 70, No. 88 overall (Round 3)
- No. 104, No. 107 overall (Round 4)
- No. 142 overall (Round 5)
- No. 182, No. 194, No. 200 overall (Round 6)
- No. 221 overall (Round 7)
As of Friday morning, the Jaguars will not pick in the second round -- but more moves could be made.
The second and third rounds begin at 7 p.m. Friday, and Rounds 4-7 start at noon on Saturday.
First-time general manager James Gladstone, first-time head coach Liam Coen and first-time executive vice president Tony Boselli made a splash with their top pick -- much to the delight of Jaguars’ fans.
“What a great pick. I never saw it coming,” one fan said.
Another fan said they had a feeling it would happen -- and they couldn’t be happier.
“We knew it. We called it right now. I told them when we got here. I heard that we were going to No. 2. I said Travis Hunter. It is done. We got him!” the fan said.
Despite weeks of speculation about staying put at No. 5 and selecting Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, the Jaguars’ leadership made a much bolder move.
Now, it’s up to the trio to get the most out of Hunter.
“It was an awfully enjoyable moment in time,” Gladstone said. “It’s certainly one that I’ll remember and look forward to seeing the playback here in the coming minutes, hours, days that lie ahead, just so I can relive that.”
Gladstone said the Jaguars and Cleveland first discussed a potential trade early this month and had the framework in place two weeks ago.
But getting it right came down to timing.
“Along the way, there was a pretty good pulse for what the end was going to look like, and really what executing that once they were on the clock would sort of shape out to be. And the fact that it came to life as seamlessly as it did, once the bell rung, is something that was fulfilling,” Gladstone said. “Being able to sit here tonight with Travis Hunter as a Jacksonville Jaguar is a vision that Liam, myself, Tony, and the rest of our coaching staff and scouting staff certainly have a collective vision for.”
The Jaguars were the talk of the NFL on Thursday night -- and there are still two days of the draft to go.
