Episcopal’s dream girls soccer season ended one win short of a storybook ending.

Benjamin made a late first-half goal stand up and denied the Eagles in a 1-0 win in the Class 2A state championship game on Saturday night in DeLand. Episcopal beat top-seeded Ransom Everglades 3-1 for its first state semifinal win in three trips, but it couldn’t scratch out any offense against Benjamin.

The Buccaneers used a goal from Emma Bartoli in the 31st minute to get on the board and their defense kept it until the finish. Episcopal finished its best season in program history under head coach Jay Bolt at 14-6-3.

The loss brings down the curtain on girls soccer in 2025 with four state finalists and three champs. Earlier Saturday, St. Johns Country Day beat Pine 4-0 in the Class 1A final to win its 15th state title. Last week, Ponte Vedra won the Class 5A championship and Bartram Trail won the Class 6A crown.
