Providence battled until the finish, erasing a 12-point deficit in the third quarter to tie things on a couple occasions midway through the final quarter. But after that tie, MCD ripped off a 10-0 burst to fend off the Stallions. Julianna Baskin had 12 points, including a baseline jumper to pull Providence even in the fourth quarter. Kasey Davey followed with 11 points for the Stallions.
Providence has reached the state round four times, all coming since 2017. Each time in Lakeland, it has run into MCD.
