Bishop Snyder, Clay, Ponte Vedra and West Nassau brought home competitive cheerleading state championships Friday and Saturday in Lakeland.

West Nassau’s win in the Class 1A medium non-tumbling division boosted its state-record streak to 14 championships, including 11 consecutive. The Warriors’ lone miss during that epic stretch came with a state runner-up finish by less than five points in 2014. Head coach Samantha Beazley has helped build the Warriors into a dynasty that also includes eight UCA championships and four world titles.

Bishop Snyder won its fifth state championship, capturing the 1A small non-tumbling category. The Cardinals have been close to four other championships, finishing state runner-up in 2011, 2019, 2023-24.

Ponte Vedra brought home its third championship, winning the 1A extra large bracket. The Sharks won back-to-back titles in 2022-23 for their first titles and also have three state runner-up finishes.

The state championships are the first in a busy stretch for area cheer teams. The UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships are Feb. 7-10 in Orlando.
