Quality wins: Bolles, Creekside, Fleming Island, Florida High, Impact Christian, Gainesville, Lake Highland Prep, Paxon, Ponte Vedra, Providence, Ribault, Rickards, Savannah, Tocoi Creek, University Christian, Williston.
Notable: The Tigers saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end with a 57-51 loss to Ribault in the Gateway Conference title game. They bounced back with a 61-39 romp over Providence. The regular season ends on Friday against Wolfson before the district tournament — and the drive to return to Lakeland — begins. Jahari Simmons (16 ppg) and David Wilson (13.6 ppg) are leading the Tigers.
2. (2) Impact Christian (18-4, Class 1A)
Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Columbia, Creekside, Episcopal, Oviedo, Ponte Vedra, Mt. Bethel Christian, Martin County, Nease, Potter’s House, Providence, San Jose Prep, Santa Fe Catholic.
Notable: The Lions have been locked into this spot for weeks. They’ve won 11 straight games, including three since our last Super 6 — Bishop Snyder (54-40), Harvest (76-24) and Wolfson (74-46). They wrap up the regular season with Raines (Wednesday) and University Christian (Friday). Ronald Clark (14.6 ppg), Jeremiah Jones (11.7 ppg) and Chris Jackson (9.8 ppg) are leading the Lions.
3. (4) University Christian (16-8, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Baldwin (Ga.), Creekside, Davenport, Fleming Island, IMG Academy Gold, Mainland, Nease, Potter’s House, Providence, St. Petersburg, Villages Charter.
Notable: The Christians have won seven straight, including a walk-off 3-pointer by Ty Duncan in OT to stun Ribault 52-51. They also beat Sandalwood (60-52) and Bishop Moore (72-57) since our last Super 6. They’ve got a heavyweight clash on Friday against No. 2 Impact Christian. Duncan (13.3 ppg) leads UC in scoring, followed by Markel Holmes (9.6 ppg).
4. (5) Ribault (16-6, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Creekside, First Coast (twice), Fletcher, Gainesville, Lake Howell, Mandarin, Riverside.
Notable: A good week for the Trojans, and I wanted to move them up higher. They beat Mandarin (76-51) in the Gateway semis, and then upset Jackson (57-51) to win their second consecutive conference title. Then, they lost to University Christian in a 52-51 OT thriller. Ribault closes with White and Ponte Vedra before the district tournament. Jamian Jackson (14.7 ppg), Kaden Toure (14.3 ppg) and Kaleb McDuffie (10.4 ppg) lead the Trojans.
5. (T6) Creekside (15-7, Class 7A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, Fleming Island, Fletcher, Milton, Paxon, Ponte Vedra, Providence, St. Augustine, St. Joseph.
Notable: The Knights have been on a tear and kept that going with a pair of wins since our last Super 6, the headliner a 59-56 win over previous No. 3 Tocoi Creek. They wrap up the regular season at Episcopal on Friday before the District 1-7A tournament. They’ll be heavily favored to win that. Nolan Nelson (14.3 ppg) and Derek Rivers (13.3 ppg) are leading the Knights.
T6. (T6) Fleming Island (18-5, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Bradford, Creekside, Davenport, Jackson, Mainland, Oakleaf (twice), Providence, Vanguard, Westside.
Notable: The Golden Eagles upped their winning streak to six with three wins since our last Super 6, the headliner a 53-43 win in OT against Providence. Fleming is the No. 1 seed in the District 3-5A tournament and will likely see Orange Park in the final. Carson Crawford is averaging 17 ppg for the Golden Eagles.
T6. (3) Tocoi Creek (20-3, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Colonial, Episcopal, Fleming Island, NSU University, Raines, Riverside, St. Joseph, Westside.
Notable: The Toros dropped a 59-56 game to Creekside, then bounced back with comfortable wins over St. Joseph (72-36) and Crescent City (72-32). They’ve got Beachside and Nease to round out the regular season. The game against Beachside will be a tough one. They scratched out a 42-39 win over the Barracudas last month. Then, it’s the District 3-6A tournament where the Toros are the No. 1 seed.
