JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars season is back and our News4JAX sports staff is back with its predictions as well. Each week, we’ll unveil our predictions for the week’s game. Jacksonville (3-10) is hosting the Jets (3-10) on Sunday at EverBank Stadium.

Season record: 8-5.
I have been avoiding this pick all week because personally, this might be one of the harder games to pick in the season. You have two teams with massive expectations that greatly underperformed and are now just trying to finish out the season. I really want to pick Jacksonville; they are at home and coming off a win against the Titans in Nashville. The only thing that still gives me pause is the fact that the Jags will still be using their backup quarterback in Mac Jones, while the Jets will be using one of the greatest quarterbacks of this era in Aaron Rodgers. While he may not be the same player he has been, he is still Aaron Rodgers and has all the talent needed to beat the Jags. In my mind, it will come down to the Jags defense being able to make just one more play than the Jets offense. Jones has played well recently, and I think the offense can do just enough to win the game. So, I am picking the Jags to win another low-scoring affair. — Jaguars 17, Jets 13.
Justin Barney
Season record: 7-6.
Mac Jones struggled for three quarters and came alive in the final minutes to help the Jaguars halt a slide. The Titans are terrible so it wasn’t quite a milestone win. The Jets are bad, too, but they’ve got a good defense. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jaguars win again but I think New York’s defense will step up here. — Jets 24, Jaguars 20.

Season record: 8-5.
I’m unsure about this one. The Jets and Jaguars are both 3-10, but New York has Aaron Rodgers. At first you may think ‘oh it’s Aaron Rodgers of course the Jets will win’, but again — they’re 3-10. Most of their losses were close games where they only lost by six or fewer points. Only three games were lost by 13 points or more. That’s imilar to how the Jaguars season has gone. Most of Jacksonville’s losses are by six or fewer points and only three games were blowouts against the Bills (47-10 in Week 3), the Bears (35-16 in Week 6) and the Lions (52-6 in Week 11). The Jaguars are coming off their third win of the season beating the Titans 10-6. Not the most amazing game, but the defense did really well and Mac Jones won his first game as a Jaguars player. With the news tight end Evan Engram is having season-ending surgery, that means the offense is down their two top play makers with wide receiver Christian Kirk also out for the season. That will put even more pressure on running backs Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby, as well as wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. I have hesitation that the guys filling the starting roles will be able to do enough to win. I’m 60/40 that the Jets will win this one. — Jets 24, Jaguars 21.
Jamal St. Cyr
Season record: 6-7.
I think it is very possible the Jags could run the table the rest of the way and finish the year with seven wins. That sounds like nightmare fuel for many fans because seven wins would likely mean more of the same and another year Trent Baalke and Doug Pederson. While I think there is a chance that happens. I’m still not picking it to happen. Beating the Titans in a game with only one touchdown doesn’t change my mind about where this team is. Aaron Rodgers may be 41 but he will play like he is 28 on Sunday. — Jets 30, Jaguars 17.
