JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars made a slew of roster moves on Tuesday, the biggest one the release of receiver Zay Jones.

That move wasn’t entirely unexpected. Jacksonville spent a first-round pick on receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and signed Gabe Davis in free agency. The team will take on a dead cap charge of $6.57 million and save nearly $4.2 million with his release.

The team also announced it cut kicker Joey Slye and is bringing in 13 undrafted free agents, including five receivers. One of those is Westside High School graduate David White Jr.

Jones spent two seasons in Jacksonville. He battled through a rash of injuries and finished with 321 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 34 receptions in 2023 as the Jaguars crumbled from an 8-3 start to a 9-8 finish and a playoff miss. Jones had his best NFL season in 2022 with Jacksonville, catching 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns. His catch and yardage totals were both career highs.
