Hundreds run in 16th annual Wolfson Children’s Challenge to support specialized care for kids

Every donation, whether big or small, makes a difference for local kids

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The community came together in a big way this Saturday morning to support the 16th annual Wolfson Children’s Challenge, held at the Winston Family YMCA in Riverside.

The event, centered on raising funds for Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation to help kids get the care they need for medical issues they may be facing, saw hundreds of runners lacing up their sneakers to contribute to the cause.

All proceeds from the 5K go directly to Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation, a critical resource offering services to kids in Northeast Florida and South Georgia.

Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation provides care for challenges like sensory movement, feeding, and communication difficulties.

Last week, during the Wolfson Children’s Challenge Telethon at WJXT, more than $80,000, underscoring the community’s commitment to helping children receive life-saving and life-changing care.

The Wolfson Children’s Challenge was founded in 2009 by Paul Wilson after his newborn son, Luke, underwent surgery shortly after birth. Wilson’s mission to support the facility has helped raise millions to fund advanced technology and medical equipment.

One family shared their story of how the care they received through Wolfson made a difference.

“Rowan was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, so he was born with half a heart essentially,” they explained. “There are no words to describe how incredible this team has been.”

With every step taken at the event, the community showed its dedication to making a difference in the lives of children who depend on Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation.
