JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A hands-on program helped high school students in St. Johns County learn about health care.
Students from the Biomedical education program at Beachside High School spent the day at the Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital this week.

The school and the hospital collaborate to help students determine what’s next for themselves after receiving their diploma.
“It means so much more to be here today, to give them this experience than it could ever be behind their desk or in a classroom setting,” Director Kendra Stone said.
The students explored different career paths in health care and participated in several sessions about CPR, imaging, orthopedics and more.
“I think it’s really exciting to see all of these nurses and doctors and medical professionals walking by here. So I can’t wait to learn more about this stuff and hopefully find my own career here,” Alyssa, a Beachside student said.
