PALM COAST, Fla. – Janie Holley, a Palm Coast resident and widow of late U.S. Air Force veteran Alton Holley, received a heartfelt gift this holiday season.
On Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, AK Certified Contracting LLC, an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing Contractor, replaced the roof on her home as part of the National Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.

The initiative, in collaboration with Purple Heart Homes (PHH), selects deserving military veterans or their families for new roof installations. Owens Corning donates the materials while local contractors, like AK Certified Contracting LLC, provide the labor.
On Monday, Holley spoke about her late husband and his time serving in the U.S. Air Force.
“He went in in ‘62 and... he saw things a kid that age should never see,” Holley told a spokesperson for AK Certified Contracting LLC. “He had good memories and he had bad memories. Unfortunately, sometimes the bad overweighed the good.”
The roof replacement began early in the morning at Holley’s Palm Coast residence. The project’s impact goes beyond physical repairs, symbolizing community gratitude for those who served the country.
Holley became emotional when asked how she reacted when she found out she would be receiving a new roof.
“I sat there and I cried,” Holley said. " I cried and I cried, and I’m trying not to now. I said what an unbelievable honor and blessing."
Since its inception in 2016, the Roof Deployment Project has installed over 625 roofs across the nation, honoring those who have served in the armed forces and supporting their families.
Representatives from AK Certified Contracting LLC emphasized their commitment to giving back to veterans and their communities.
