JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) is currently facing a pressing challenge: their shelter is over capacity.
With 50 kennels now housing two dogs each, the space for these animals has been significantly reduced, ACPS said on Thursday.

The staff is working tirelessly to ensure all dogs remain safe, enriched, and healthy despite the cramped conditions.
"We’re working overtime to keep all of our dogs safe, enriched, and healthy, but we are simply out of room—and that’s where you come in," ACPS said in a social media post.
February presents a perfect opportunity for those considering fostering or adopting. ACPS has waived all adoption fees for the month, and fostering remains free.
To assist potential fosters and adopters, the shelter is introducing a variety of dogs throughout the month, each with their own unique traits. This week, ACPS is highlighting their “heckin' floofy” pups. While these dogs may require a bit more vacuuming due to their shedding, their beauty and charm make it worthwhile, the post said.
For those interested in learning more, ACPS encourages visits to the shelter. They are in need of fosters and adopters, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, it might just be the perfect time to find a new furry companion.
