ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested a teen early Sunday morning after learning that they had made threats toward people attending a vigil for Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was killed after he was shot during an event at a college campus in Utah.

SJSO said the teen posted a story to her Snapchat account with a screenshot that had text written over it, which said, “unt unt not on my bday” and “whoever goes is getting shot up,” referring to the vigil for Kirk.

Deputies said the post was reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. During an interview with the teen, law enforcement says they admitted to disagreeing with Kirk’s views, specifically his stance on gun violence.

The St. Augustine teen faces a charge of creating a written or electronic threat of a mass shooting/terrorism act, a second-degree felony in the state of Florida.

The arrest comes as multiple people in Florida have lost their jobs after speaking out about their dislike for Kirk and his views.

In Clay County, a teacher was suspended over a post on social media that referenced Kirk.

And on Monday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it fired an employee who shared a social media post that “made light of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

Additionally, a former employee with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund is no longer with the organization after Council President Kevin Carrico called for his removal following comments made about Kirk, which included them saying that the activist “spewed nothing but hate.”
