Hallmark’s ‘The Groomsmen’ flips the script on wedding stories with trilogy told from the guys’ point of view

Hallmark Channel is adding a new twist to its lineup of romantic films with "The Groomsmen," a three-part movie series that shifts the focus of wedding season to the men at the altar.

The films star BJ Britt, Jonathan Bennett and Tyler Hynes as lifelong friends navigating love, commitment and friendship in a way Hallmark has never shown before.

“It’s kind of like The Hangover — but Hallmark-ified,” Bennett said. “We wanted to tell the story from the guys’ perspective, to show what’s said when the women aren’t in the room. It’s never been done on Hallmark before, and that’s what makes it exciting.”

The trilogy weaves together three interconnected love stories, with scenes overlapping from one movie to the next. Viewers might see a moment begin in the first film, then watch it resolve in the second or third.

“It’s like a puzzle,” Bennett said. “Each film has its role — one sets the world, one is the big celebration, and one ties it all together. It really feels like one giant movie.”

The cast said the real-life chemistry between the three actors translated easily to the screen.

“What you see on film is what you get with us every day,” Britt said. “I’ve been doing this for more than 20 years, and I’ve never felt lightning in a bottle like this. We instantly connected.”

The films also deliver Hallmark’s signature blend of scenic backdrops, romance and humor. Hynes said the trilogy balances each element while offering something new for longtime fans.

“It’s funny, heartfelt and completely unique,” he said. “We don’t drop the ball on any of it.”

The Groomsmen premieres as a three-part event on Hallmark Channel, with the first installment debuting Sept. 6.
