CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Clay County Board of Governors released its 2026 funding plan and legislative priorities.
Clay County is addressing its infrastructure needs as the county grows.
The county is appropriating over $10 million for public safety needs and multiple construction projects of warehouses, operations centers, and a training complex.
It’s also allocating $2 million towards projects like the Moccasin Slough boardwalk and observation tower, fairgrounds improvements, and the preservation of the Historic Clay County Courthouse.
County Road 218 will also be expanded to four lanes. That project is expected to cost $5 million.
Officials are also expected to spend $1 million to replace failing septic tanks where wastewater treatment is not available.
The county is expected to prioritize items like increased funding for the judicial system and its supporting functions, and addressing the rising costs of homeowner’s insurance. Officials said it will promote a transition to a tax system that supports the county in changing economic times.
