St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office K-9 tracks man in woods who ran from traffic stop

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office K-9 tracked down a man in a heavily wooded area after he ran from a traffic stop.

SJSO said on Aug. 18, deputies pulled over a truck on I-95 for speeding. The agency said during the traffic stop, both passengers got out of the truck and ran into the woods. This incident caused heavy backups for nearly three miles.

Deputies and K-9 Daisy Mae searched for the two men in the woods between I-95 and State Road 16 and found one of the men hiding in the brush.

Officials said the second passenger wasn’t found, but the driver was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and the first passenger was charged with resisting without violence.
