Officials said at around 10:46 a.m., the police received another call from the apartment and were told Boone returned and another disturbance was occurring.

When officers returned, Boone fled on foot and they tried to catch him but he ran away into a heavily wooded area.

PPD said Boone had kicked the apartment door open and entered with a knife in his hand. Officers said Boone pointed the knife at the victim and walked toward her, but ran away again when he heard the sirens.

An officer saw Boone exit the woods on a nearby street and he ran away again into a heavily wooded area when he saw the police.

Multiple schools in Palatka were on a multi-hour modified lockdown out of caution.

The affected schools were:

  • Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School
  • Mellon Learning Center
  • Children’s Reading Center Charter School
  • St. Johns River State College

PPD is asking for the community’s help in searching for Boone. If he is found, call the dispatch center at 386-329-0800.
