Officials said the program had low participation, largely due to changes by the county.
Last October, Clay County ended its own recycling program due to high costs.
Council members said the end of the recycling program will allow the city to save money as officials work to finalize this fiscal year’s budget.
The city council did not release a detailed plan yet for where recyclable materials should be taken after collections cease.
