JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 26-year-old Jacksonville woman is facing an organized fraud charge after investigators said she embezzled more than $42,000 from her employer, La Nopalera.
The woman worked at two locations of the popular local Mexican food chain -- Bartram Park and Fleming Island -- from September 2023 through June 2025, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said the woman was paid with physical checks during her tenure at the Bartram Park location.
After the woman’s boss reported her to JSO for possible fraud, investigators discovered 33 checks that the woman had altered for a total embezzlement of $42,914.17, according to her arrest report.
The woman was arrested by JSO on Aug. 27.
She is also under investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in connection with her time at the Fleming Island location.
