The body of an elderly man was pulled from the water Sunday morning near the Cedar River, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police were called to the river, which runs along Lake Shore Boulevard, just before 9 a.m. The incident was reported just south of Waterside Drive.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded, but the man died at the scene, police said.
JSO said his death appears to be accidental, but it is still being investigated by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
