Clay County deputies clear scene after responding to ‘suspicious device’ at fire station on Blanding Boulevard

A suspicious device was reported Wednesday morning at a fire station in Clay County. (WJXT)

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Clay County deputies responded Wednesday morning to a “suspicious device” on Blanding Boulevard.

A Fire Station 18 crew member found the device around 8 a.m. and it ended up behind the station, which is on Blanding Boulevard near Woodside Drive.

Mandatory evacuations were not ordered, and no one was hurt.

By 10 a.m., the scene had been cleared by investigators, but the investigation is ongoing and will be conducted by a specialized unit of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
