FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – Months after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office found human remains in the St. Johns River in Fleming Island, deputies announced the identification on Friday.
On May 7, skeletal remains identified as 24-year-old Nicholas Anderson, of Atlanta, Georgia, were found near the bulkhead of a home after the homeowner called 911.

The sheriff’s office immediately launched an investigation to determine the identity.
The investigation is ongoing as the CCSO works to figure out what led to his death. It is also looking into who he encountered, his activities and where he visited between April 1 to April 7.
Anderson’s family was notified.
