JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the chest by his brother on Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened at a home on Galapolo Avenue around 5:45 p.m. when the 12-year-old’s older brother had a gun that accidentally discharged.

It’s unclear why the older brother had the gun, as it is early in the investigation.
The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he was in stable condition.
The brother was in custody and cooperating with police.
