PALM COAST, Fla. – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said 96 cats are available for adoption after they were removed on Tuesday from a Palm Coast home where an elderly resident was attempting to take care of them.

The animals were not found to be abused or intentionally neglected, deputies added, but had to be removed because the living conditions were not deemed safe.
Palm Coast Animal Control was contacted to remove the cats and took them to the Flagler Animal Hospital for evaluation.
After receiving any necessary treatment, the cats will be available for adoption through the Flagler Humane Society.
"Sheriff Rick Staly encourages anyone looking for a furry friend to visit flaglerhumanesociety.org/adoptable-cats and reminds residents that responsible pet ownership means only adopting the number of pets you can handle or that are allowed under city ordinances," the agency said.
