SARASOTA, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference Monday morning to celebrate the state’s ranking in protecting religious liberty.
During the news conference at New College Florida in Sarasota, DeSantis said First Liberty Institute’s Center for Religion, Culture and Democracy has ranked Florida No. 1 on their religious liberty in the state’s index.
“We want parental freedom. We want students to be able to achieve their ambitions and their potential, and a huge part of that is empowering parents to make decisions that are going to allow their children, not only to grow in terms of ABCs history, but also in religious instruction,” DeSantis said.
West Virginia ranked last in the study out of all 50 states.
“We hope our study very much inspires other states to follow Florida’s example,” a researcher with First Liberty Institute said.
