FHP said the SUV’s driver and passenger, both from Jacksonville, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries following the Duval County crash.

The crash occurred around 2 a.m. near Airport Road and Duval Road when the motorcyclist, riding a red Harley-Davidson, was heading east on Airport Road and approached Duval Road, FHP said.

Troopers said that a silver Buick Enclave was preparing to turn left from westbound Airport Road onto Duval Road, and as it completed the turn, the motorcycle and SUV crashed within the intersection.

All involved parties were taken to the hospital, where medical staff declared the motorcyclist dead, FHP said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, FHP said.

The agency also said that the SUV’s driver and passenger were not wearing their seatbelts and the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
