St. Johns County Fire Rescue treating multiple people who were struck by lightning at St. Augustine Pier

1 person was transported in critical condition to local trauma center, 1 transported to hospital with minor injuries

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Johns County Fire Rescue and St. Augustine Fire Department are treating and evacuating patients who were struck by lightning at the St. Augustine Pier on Saturday.

Officials said one patient was transported in critical condition to a local trauma center and one patient was transported with minor injuries to a local hospital.

A third patient refused transport.

Crews are actively treating and evacuating patients from the area.

Officials said to avoid the pier while emergency operations are underway and to go indoors when you see thunder.
