ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A small aircraft made an emergency landing Friday afternoon on U.S. 1 just north of the St. Augustine Airport, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 3 p.m., a 45-year-old male pilot attempted to make an emergency landing at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport, but landed on U.S. 1 and entered the ditch on the side of the road.

There were no injuries reported.
According to flight tracking data, the plane had taken off from Greenville, South Carolina, just before noon.
The right lane of U.S. 1 southbound will be closed for the removal of the aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is investigating the cause of the collision.
