While Amazon Prime Days offer consumers an opportunity to find cost-effective deals on everyday items, a local nonprofit is using the four-day window to give the North Florida community a chance to support local kids in foster care.

Family Support Services (FSS) for Duval and Nassau counties has created an Amazon wish list in hopes of securing essential school items like notebooks, binders, calculators, pens, and more for foster families and their children.
“While you’re enjoying the deals during this week’s Amazon Prime Days, you can ‘add to cart’ and support an event for local kids in foster care heading back to school,” the organization said.

On its website, FSS says its mission is to be a leader in providing “safety, stability, and quality of life” for all kids, adding that it is a community responsibility that represents the area’s best interests.
“Our vision is that children grow up connected to their own families, supported by families, and embraced by the community, [and] that children have the opportunity to achieve in school and to learn to be productive citizens,” the statement reads.
