CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – As Wednesday afternoon storms rolled through Northeast Florida, the impacts were felt in parts of Clay County, with nearly 7,000 power outages reported by the county’s utility.

According to the Clay Electric Cooperative Outage Map, about 6,989 customers near Middleburg were without power as of 5 p.m.
While there is no clear reasoning provided for the outage, the spike in reports came as storms moved through the area, with flood advisories being put into effect between 3 and 4 p.m.
The outage map shows that most of the outages should be resolved by 6:30 p.m.
By 7:45 p.m., all outages were resolved.
Of the over 92,000 customers that the utility serves in the area, the number of those without power equaled about 7% of its customer base, the map showed.
