JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Drivers were urged to use caution and avoid water-covered roads across Jacksonville after Wednesday afternoon showers poured down.
In San Marco, a flood-prone neighborhood in the city, waters overtook some streets, causing traffic disruptions.

Flood advisories were in effect for Clay and Duval counties. At least 1 to 3 inches of heavy rainfall swamped the area on Wednesday.
One driver who was waiting on a train to pass near Hendricks Avenue Elementary caught video of a powerful lightning strike in San Marco during the storms.
At the corner of Lerue Avenue and Rivera Street, a car was stuck in the middle of deep floodwaters.
Other drivers didn’t try their luck when they saw the flooded streets.
“Actually, when I saw it, I was like, I’m not going through that,” Austin Ferrell said.
At one point, the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department called in to assist an elderly couple who were stuck in their vehicle after it had stalled.
Lydia Diggs was watching from her apartment as firefighters rescued the couple.
“My first instinct was, can I get my paddleboard out of the back of my car so I could paddle over there because I knew there was a woman in the car also,” Diggs said.
The constant flooding has deterred residents like Dianna Cail from calling San Marco home.
“Unfortunately, when my lease is up, I’ll move. I love San Marco, but this is insane,” Cail said.
Edgewood Avenue between Beaver Street and Broadway Avenue also saw its share of flooding, according to a picture from a viewer.
More rainfall was expected throughout the day as slow-moving thunderstorms settled over the River City.
