NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – The Nassau County School District made history in the 2024-2025 school year.

Based on the latest rankings released by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), Nassau County was ranked the number one school district in Florida, earning an “A” rating for every single school in the district.
The achievement marks the first time the county’s school district has received the state’s top spot in its rankings and the first time that all 14 schools in the district received an “A.”
In the 2023-2024 school year, 12 schools received an “A,” with one school, Wildlight Elementary, receiving a “B,” and another, Nassau Virtual School, receiving an “I.”
“Being named the #1 school district in Florida is a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, school leaders, support personnel, and families,” said Dr. Kathy Burns, Superintendent of Nassau County Schools. “We are proud to provide an educational environment where every child can thrive.
Additionally, the county ranked in the top 10 for various testing areas, including:
- #1 in Algebra (all grades)
- #1 in Grades 3 through 8 Mathematics
- #1 in 5th Grade Science
- #2 in Grades 3 through 10 English Language Arts
- #2 in 8th Grade Science
- #2 in U.S. History
- #3 in Geometry
- #5 in Biology
- #7 in Civics
"This achievement highlights not only the excellence of Nassau County Schools but also the district’s strong culture of continuous improvement and student-focused innovation," the school district said.
Of the 67 school districts in Florida, 28 received an “A,” 31 were given a “B,” and 8 were given a “C.” None received a “D” or “F.”
