Only a handful of holidays affect trash collection in nearly every area county in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

But some counties also observe holidays throughout the year, like Memorial Day and Independence Day

We’ve compiled a county-by-county breakdown of how trash service is affected by the 4th of July holiday to help you plan ahead for when to put those cookout leftovers to the curb.

Duval County

In Duval County, garbage collection schedules are adjusted ONLY for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Solid waste collections for the 4th of July holiday will run on a normal schedule.

St. Johns County

Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection schedules will not be delayed for the 4th of July. The Tillman Ridge and Stratton Road Transfer Stations will remain open during standard business hours.

St. Augustine

Solid waste collections will remain on their regular schedule for Independence Day.

St. Augustine Beach

There are no changes to solid waste and recycling services for the week of Independence Day.

Clay County

Curbside trash collection in the FCC service areas -- unincorporated Clay County and the city of Keystone Heights -- scheduled for July 4 will be picked up on July 5.

Normal collection schedules will resume on Monday following the holiday.

Additionally, the Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Facility and the Environmental Convenience Centers will be closed on July 4.

Green Cove Springs

Independence Day: No pick-up on Friday, July 4, 2025. All services will be picked up on their next scheduled day.

Orange Park

No changes for the week of Independence Day.

Nassau County

Meridian Waste does not make pickup changes for the week of Independence Day.

Fernandina Beach

No changes for the week of Independence Day.

Flagler County

Due to the Independence Day holiday, Waste Management customers with a regular service day scheduled on Friday, July 4, may be delayed by up to one day.

Palm Coast

The city of Palm Coast contracts with FCC Environmental for garbage collection, recycling, yard waste and bulk trash.

There will be no changes in pick-ups for the week of Independence Day.

Bunnell

Commercial dumpsters and residential garbage will be picked up as usual on Friday, July 4.

Flagler Beach

Normal trash pick-ups will occur the week of Independence Day.

Putnam County

Independence Day is a Waste Pro holiday.

If your pick-up day falls on Friday, your service will be on Saturday.

The county is serviced by Waste Management.

Due to the Independence Day holiday, Waste Management customers with a regular service day scheduled on Friday, July 4, may be delayed by up to one day.

Bradford County

Bradford County does not provide curbside pickup, but the county’s solid waste collection sites are closed on county holidays, including Independence Day. More info

Starke

GFL is the solid waste collector for the city of Starke.

The week of Independence Day, collection will be delayed one day for customers with pick-ups on Fridays.

Columbia County

Columbia County administers the contract for curbside collection through Waste Pro, which provides for once-a-week pickup for household garbage and yard waste.

Independence Day is a Waste Pro holiday.

Garbage collection for Friday, July 4, will be delayed until Saturday.

The Winfield Solid Waste Facility will be closed on July 4.

Union County

GFL collects garbage in Lake Butler.

The week of Independence Day, collection will be delayed one day for customers with pick-ups on Fridays.

Alachua County

Independence Day is one of only six holidays that affect collection service in the county.

​Waste will not be collected on July 4, and all scheduled pick-ups will be delayed by one (business) day that week. Collection will return to normal the following week.

Gainesville

Residential curbside collection for garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be impacted by the July 4 holiday.

Brantley County

The county is serviced by Republic Services.

Camden County

County Offices will be closed Friday, but curbside pickup will not be delayed.
