3 suspects accused in shooting inside Lake City Arby’s arrested following chase; 2 hurt

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A shooting inside an Arby’s restaurant in Lake City on Thursday morning sparked a chase and the arrest of three suspects, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies first showed up at the Arby’s on Highway 90 West around 11:30 a.m. after a report of a shooting.

Deputies then found two people inside the restaurant who had been shot. The victims gave information about the suspects, including a vehicle description.

Within minutes, the sheriff’s office said, a responding deputy located the suspects’ vehicle near the scene, which was occupied by three people. The vehicle then took off northbound onto I-75 from U.S.90 West and deputies followed at high speeds, according to a news release.

The Florida Highway Patrol joined deputies in the chase and law enforcement was able to stop the vehicle with a PIT maneuver.

The three suspects were then taken into custody without issue.

One of the victims of the shooting was treated at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other victim was transported to a trauma unit with serious injuries, deputies said.

The identities of the victims are being withheld at this time.

Investigators said the motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Preliminary information is that the suspects in this incident reside out of county and are all adults. Their identities are being withheld pending further confirmation.

Law enforcement vehicles swarmed the scene where the suspects were caught on I-75, which caused traffic backups.
